# From a brand idea
to a plan you can use.

A brief becomes a collection. A collection becomes samples, product information and a launch decision. Follow those connections through @Ease, read as “At Ease”, an athleisure brand concept developed by Surajmal Studio.

The idea

Comfortable clothes for everyday movement

The collection

A quarter-zip, T-shirt and trouser

The stage

Concept design and launch planning

01 / Give the idea direction

## A brief that helps you choose.

The working idea is comfortable everyday clothing for people moving between home, a commute and relaxed time outside. Customer conversations would help refine the occasion, fit preferences and buying priorities before development.

Product point of view

Relaxed shapes that work together, with practical details and clear information about fit.

Visual direction

A quiet wordmark, warm neutrals and legible product information. Check the mark at woven-label and embroidery size before finalising it.

Voice

Describe what the garment does and how it fits. Avoid untested performance, sustainability or comfort claims.

First applications

Garment label, hangtag, product page and parcel card. Approve these together so the identity holds across sizes and materials.

Still to decide

Validate the customer, choose the first selling market and retail position, and arrange any specialist name clearance needed before committing.

Concept artwork: check the identity in the places it needs to work.

02 / Make the collection manageable

## Three styles, each with a job.

The quarter-zip sets the direction, the T-shirt provides the everyday base, and the trouser completes the outfit. Shared colours connect the pieces while each garment has its own fit and construction decisions.

The proposed first collection uses oatmeal and olive. The collection plan records what to develop before assigning quantities or committing to materials.

Collection concept: a shared palette, with a different role for each garment.

01

### Quarter-zip

The recognisable layering piece

Proposed direction

Relaxed fit, oatmeal colour and enough fabric body to support the collar.

Resolve before sampling

Collar shape, zip feel, fabric weight and movement when reaching.

02

### T-shirt

The everyday base layer

Proposed direction

Oatmeal and olive, soft jersey and a neckline that sits under the quarter-zip.

Resolve before sampling

Opacity, neck opening, recovery and length under the outer layer.

03

### Trouser

The companion that completes the outfit

Proposed direction

Olive, a relaxed leg and practical pockets and waistband construction.

Resolve before sampling

Sitting comfort, pocket opening, waistband behaviour and fabric suitability.

### Count the variants before ordering

If the quarter-zip has one colour, the T-shirt two and the trouser one, each offered in four sizes, the plan has 16 style-colour-size combinations. That is a stock-planning calculation, not an order quantity or a manufacturer's minimum.

Each extra colour needs its own material decision, imagery and stock allocation. Confirm minimums per style at enquiry and check any fabric minimum separately.

### One useful decision

Keep the second quarter-zip colour out of the first sample brief until there is a clear customer reason for it. That removes an open colour decision while preserving the collection's main idea.

03 / Turn an observation into an instruction

## A sample review someone can act on.

These example review notes show how we would assess a first quarter-zip sample for the proposed collection. A real review records the actual sample version, fit model, measurements, images and approved changes.

Example review log · QZ-01 / revision A · decisions to resolve

01

### Movement

Example observation

The hem lifts when the wearer reaches forward.

Next action

Check armhole, sleeve and body balance together before deciding which measurement to change.

Bring to the next review

Side and back movement photographs, measurements and the revised pattern reference.

02

### Collar construction

Example observation

The collar looks heavier than the intended silhouette.

Next action

Review fabric, collar construction and zip together. Agree a construction trial before another complete sample if suitable.

Bring to the next review

A labelled trial compared with the design reference, with the approved construction recorded.

03

### The mark on the garment

Example observation

The stitched mark loses detail at the intended size.

Next action

Compare a simplified mark with the original at the same size on the intended fabric.

Bring to the next review

Embroidery trials and the artwork version selected for the next sample.

### Approval stays specific

“Continue to the next fit sample” is different from “Approved for production.” In this example, movement, collar construction and embroidery remain open. Bulk cutting would not be authorised by these notes.

04 / Connect the product to the launch

## Set the date around what is ready.

The store should carry the same identity and explain the same collection. Product content, ordering and delivery information come together around the approved garments.

This checklist becomes a dated launch plan once the scope and supplier timings are confirmed.

Store concept: exploring the identity, product details and colour directions together.

1. ### Agree the brief and first collection

**Studio prepares:** customer hypothesis, collection priorities and spending plan. **Founder approves:** what to develop and which market and channel to prepare for.

2. ### Resolve the product

**Development team prepares:** samples, specifications and cost information. **Founder approves:** the accepted product reference and the production commitment. Record market-specific checks and their owners.

3. ### Prepare the store alongside production

**Studio prepares:** page structure, brand content and campaign concepts. Final product details and photography follow the approved product. Confirm delivery arrangements before publishing customer promises.

4. ### Make a launch decision

**Team checks:** saleable stock, product information, payment and order tests, shipping setup and customer support. **Founder approves:** the go-live date and campaign spending. Hold the launch if a critical dependency is unresolved.

5. ### Review what customers actually do

**Studio and founder review:** campaign response, sales, customer questions and fit feedback. Decide what needs changing before expanding the collection or reordering.

### Agree the commitments

Approve the collection plan before placing a stock order, and the brand artwork before producing packaging. Record store preparation, campaign spending, files, responsibilities and outside costs in the proposal before making those commitments.

### Use the questions for your own brand

Record each outstanding decision, the person responsible, the evidence needed and the next review date.
